Premier League Nuggets 2023/24

So that’s Week 1 done and dusted and here are the tastiest Nuggets from that opening weekend :-

Week 2

NEWCASTLE

As Newcastle fans rejoiced in hammering Villa 5-1 on Saturday, as well as being top of the league, they could be forgiven for missing out on the fact that they are currently the only club in Premier League history that can boast of an overall neutral goal difference. Goals for 1451, goals against 1451.

ASTON VILLA

When Villa conceded the first goal in that 5-1 loss at St. James Park, they became only the fourth club to concede 1400 Premier League goals, joining this trio: Everton [1539], West Ham [1485] and their opponents Newcastle [1451].

BURNLEY, LUTON & SHEFFIELD UNITED

All three promoted clubs lost their opening Premier League match, which was the sixth time this has happened in 32 Premier League seasons. The aggregate of 1-8 is the joint worst of those six occasions, alongside 2020/21 when Leeds, West Brom and Fulham scored 3 and conceded 10.

If you enjoyed these Nuggets please let others know about it and follow The Football Mine for more of the same and please feel free to send in your own Nuggets.

Until Week 3…
