27 October MW9
PROMOTED TRIO REACH DOUBLE FIGURES
Luton’s creditable draw at the City Ground meant that the promoted trio have now reached double figures with The Hatters being responsible for half of those points over their combined total of 27 matches. Meanwhile Sheffield United’s one point after 9 matches is the same as The Blades’ 2019/20 campaign, when they did not win their first match until MW18, ultimately reaching 23 points. Even in Derby’s infamous 2007/08 season, the Rams already had five points at this stage.
THE RED WALL
The red cards keep coming at quite a lick, with 23 dismissals after 90 matches so this season is still on course for nearly 100. As mentioned previously, Liverpool have already had four players sent off and just behind them are Burnley and Wolves with three each. Previous to this season, Burnley’s last three reds came over five seasons whereas Wolves did notch up the most of any club last season with five so could be considered as serial offenders.
NORTH LONDON DOMINANCE
Tottenham are unbeaten after nine matches which is only the second time in the Premier League they have reached this stage without defeat, the other time was in 2016/17. For the very first time in the Premier League both Spurs and Arsenal are unbeaten after playing nine matches.
