Premier League Nuggets 2023/24 and Episode 4 of ‘It Started With a Kick’

TROUBLED TRIO

From the early knockings of this season the three promoted clubs have had the Sword of Damocles hovering precariously over their heads. With three matches remaining the trio occupy the relegation places and if it wasn’t for Forest’s point deduction, they would be cast adrift. Although Luton have shown impressive durability and Burnley have shown signs of life recently (as for Sheffield United the less said the better), time is running out.

Between them, they have accrued 65 points and are in danger of breaking the record for the lowest points tally for three Premier League clubs. The current record holders are Cardiff, Huddersfield and Fulham who scrabbled together 76 points in 2018/19 with twenty wins between them. The current trio have only fourteen wins (five of which came against each other) and at current rate of 0.62 points per game, will end up on 71.

IT STARTED WITH A KICK – Episode 4: Kieran Maguire

Following on from last week’s Kevin Day episode, this week features his podcast partner Kieran Maguire from The Price of Football. For the sake of neutrality it is worth pointing out that Kieran is a Brighton fan so is the yin to Kevin’s yang. Some might say it’s pretty telling that Kieran’s first match was actually at Highbury to watch West Ham take on Arsenal, but I couldn’t possibly comment.

Kieran’s journey is a fascinating one as he moves on from Highbury, via Chelmsford and Hartlepool, all the way eventually to Rome.
