Am delighted to report the very first live ‘It Started With a Kick’ podcast show with Pat Nevin was a roaring success. A packed house at The Knight of Notting Hill were regaled with a range of entertaining and candid stories from Pat.
We learned about how having started his career at Clyde he nervelessly switched to the bright lights of Chelsea. His love of playing football never waned as he moved to Merseyside with Everton and Tranmere before returning to Scotland with Kilmarnock and Motherwell. Pat also touched on his most difficult moment, when having scored the winning goal of 1989 FA Cup semi-final he was faced by the horrors of Hillsborough in a post-match interview.
An illuminating evening all round and as one of the audience commented afterwards “What a triumph! Thanks for a brilliant evening. Wish it could have gone on longer.”
We’re already working on the next one which is slated for mid-February – watch this space…
That sounds great Rick, well done! Glad it was such a great success, and I’m sure the pub was too!
I’m currently in Australia celebrating (?) my 70th birthday. Having an excellent time, only slightly marred by accidentally coming across the Melbourne City FC ground. It is one of Man City’s satellite clubs in the “City Football Group”, and is a “mini-me” of it’s parent in East Manchester: same kit etc. Just when I thought I’d be shot of all that for a while.
Best wishes for the forthcoming podcasts.

Hi Ben, thanks for kind comments. That’s quite a place to celebrate your 70th birthday, pity you can’t escape the tentacles of the City Football Group – they are everywhere!
Enjoy the rest of your trip and catch up soon.
Cheers
Rick
