The Lost Boys Taskforce / It Started With a Kick Episode 76 – Seth Bennett

Here’s a piece I wrote for the Guardian about the Lost Boys Taskforce, an initiative to help provide guidance to teenagers, mainly males, who are in danger of ‘going off the rails’ as Paul Barber, CEO of Brighton & Hove Albion, who is leading the task force can relate to as he almost did so when he was 13.

It Started With a Kick Episode 76 – Seth Bennett

Seth Bennett worked at BBC for over 25 years since 1996 as a reporter and commentator in his native Sheffield. He has also commentated at Olympics and as well as ice hockey – a first for this podcast. Seth has lectured in sports journalism at Sheffield Hallam since 2011 and has been course leader in last couple of years. He has hosted BBC Sheffield’s football phone-in ‘Football Heaven’ for many years.

Seth’s first match was a South Yorkshire derby as Sheffield United beat Barnsley 3 – 1 at Bramall Lane in 1985, his only memory from that game was the Blades’ keeper the eccentric and acrobatic John Burridge doing handstands. Other highlights of Seth’s journalistic career include having Willie Carson as a taxi driver, being helped out by Neil Warnock on a pre-season tour and sharing a bath with Paul Sturrock.
