It Started With a Kick Episode 91 : Dan O’Hagan
Dan is a commentator and presenter, who has worked on several different European leagues, including France and Germany, with a regular slot on Bundesliga as well as domestic broadcasters and once had the honour of being the youngest commentator on Match of the Day, although not sure that is still the case with so many whippersnappers around these days.
Although he is a Wolves fan, his first game was at their closest rivals’ ground the Hawthorns in October 1987 for a Second Division match between West Brom and Huddersfield Town, which featured a hattrick for Tony Morley. Unusually his first game at Molineux was a testimonial with the home side taking on a West Midlands select XI including the late, great Cyrille Regis who was one of a rare breed in that he was a hero to nearly every fan of a Midlands club.

It Started With a Kick Episode 92 : Jon Spurling
Jon is a football writer who is a regular contributor to a glittering array of publications including FourFourTwo, When Saturday Comes, The Blizzard and Nutmeg to name but a few. He has also written a whole host of books, including the best-selling Highbury: The Story of Arsenal in N5, and Get It On: How The ’70s Rocked Football, Go to War: Football on the Brink in the 1980s and is currently finishing his trilogy on the 1990s which will be out next year. Somehow in amongst all this Jon also has a day job as a history and politics teacher.
But back to football and it will be no great surprise that Jon’s first game was at Highbury in 1981 to see the newly crowned champions of England but it wasn’t the home side. Amazingly, Pele was in attendance at the match which ended up with both sets of fans celebrating their successes. For one of the most famous matches in Arsenal’s history when they snatched the title from Liverpool at Anfield Jon was watching from Keele University in his own version of Fever Pitch
