It Started With a Kick Episode 103 – Tony Jones

Tony Jones’ broadcasting career stretches back a fair few decades, having commentated for all the major broadcasters on more matches than nearly all of us have had hot dinners and a few cold ones as well. After covering last year’s Champions League final at the Allianz Arena in Munich to see PSG thrash Inter Milan, Tony has hung up his mic. By a strange twist of fate his co-commentator that night was Don Goodman who just happened to score twice in Tony’s first ever live TV commentary at Molineux in 1995 .

For Tony’s first ever match we head back just over 60 years to the first time for a 4th Division match at Racecourse Ground between Wrexham and Chester, which drew a crowd of just shy of 17,000. Wrexham’s journey since then has been quite the ride and Tony is immensely proud of what current owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, are doing for not only the club but also the town itself.
