Ady Packham is this week’s guest, who is one of the Albion Roar podcasters and yes he is a Brighton fan. But It Started With a Kick is a broad church and everyone is welcome inside, even infidels and Seagulls such as everyone’s favourite football finance expert, Kieran Maguire and Michael Hamlen of 80s/90s Football.

Ady covers the dark days for Brighton when the Goldstone Ground was closed and they had to head off to Priestfield Stadium for ‘home’ matches. He recounts memories of the 164-mile round trip to Gillingham aka the land of washing machines. A return to Withdean, a glorified athletics track, was considered as progress and the crucial step before they moved to the shiny edifice that is the AmEx. One of the key moments in that transition was Ady meeting John Prescott in a Greggs which apparently secured planning permission.
