- Liverpool’s defeat at Old Trafford confirmed their worst start to a Premier League season since 2012/13 when they lost two of their first three matches, drawing the other one.
- Arsenal have only twice won their opening three Premier League matches – in The Invincibles season of 2003/04 when they won the first four, and the following season when they won the first five.
- West Ham’s visit to Villa Park will be their 1,000th Premier League match, they become the 9th club to reach that landmark. They have won almost exactly a third with 335 victories.
- In their 999 matches to date West Ham have an overall goal difference of -199, which is exactly the same as Fulham’s.
- Only five clubs have a negative goal difference of more than 200: Sunderland – 292, West Brom – 262, Norwich – 255, Watford – 208 and Southampton – 206.
- West Ham have lost their first three Premier League matches on three other occasions – 2010/11, 2017/18, 2018/19.
- This is the first time in Premier League history that neither Merseyside has won any of their opening 3 matches.
