It Started With a Kick Episode 108 : Anthony Richardson

Anthony Richardson joins a growing list of comedians to be guests on this podcast. Indeed he follows in the footsteps of his fellow Exploding Head Mark Davison who featured last week. As well as being at the end of the line for ‘Colin from Portsmouth’ Anthony is also the face of Paddy Power ads.

Anthony’s first memories of a match was at a ground that no longer exists, it’s Elm Park back in September 1995, in front of nearly 8,000 hardy souls as Reading drew 2-2 with Port Vale. Anthony recalls how he watched Reading getting promoted in April 2002 on a vidiprinter outside a television shop in Guildford! He also talks about how he had to follow Reading’s first ever season in top flight football in 2006/07 from Paris.

We touch on Reading’s sorry record in the Play-Offs, including why Anthony missed out on seeing them lose to Swansea at Wembley because of a friend called ‘Mainframe’ and some magic mushrooms. We also cover the many connections between Reading and Palace including Steve Coppell and Alan Pardew as managers and players such as Jobi McAnuff, Glenn Murray and Michael Olise.

Anthony also answers a 7th Heaven question on the highest Premier League scoring match when Portsmouth beat Reading 7-4 in September 2007 by naming all seven scorers that day.
